We also recommend reading all books and publications by Frank Viola of the Deeper ,Christian Life Network. Start with "Pagan Christianity". It is a concise readable history of the church up to the present. Can be ordered on Amazon.
More recently Dr. Tom Wadsworth has done stellar work in understanding the early church. He has a series of excellent YouTube teachings. Also, his doctoral dissertation is available online for downloading. It is must read for serious goldminers.
